The considerations this module recommend in connection with matters of the whole discussion are primarily cultural, economic, political and social rather than historical, in an attempt to promote a sense of diversity and tolerance, shape the learner's identity to be responWestward Expansionsible citizens who are fully aware of economic, political, cultural and social development, improve their decision making as well as judgment and give insights into the future.

By the end of this module, the students will be able to: 

identify the main changes in the 19th and 20th centuries in American history;

compare the distinct policies in the economic, political, social and cultural manifestations; 

analyze the main issues that Americans overcame;

approach contemporary issues in an attempt to figure out the defies of the century.
